Mystical Yoga Farm

In a quiet corner upon the magical lapping shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala the Mystical Yoga Farm sits meditatively beneath watch of ancient volcano.

The Mystical Yoga Farm is a secluded, private location accessible only by boat (ten minutes across lake from Santiago). It sits at the base of a volcano and is surrounded by magical forests, healing waters and spectacular views.

The location offers a special opportunity to live sustainably with nature, taking a relaxing break from everyday life to immerse in the practices of meditation, yoga, creative self-exploration, and deep appreciation of the beauty all around you.

The Mystical Yoga Farm offers a variety of beautiful and comfortable accommodation, peaceful atmosphere, inspiring lake views, delicious vegetarian meals, meditation, yoga, and Mayan sauna in naturally secluded surroundings.

Depending on numbers, retreat guests will be placed in gorgeous shared cabins or casitas (up to 2-6 people) or may secure private lodging for only $10 more per night. Facilities include shared hot showers, a traditional sauna, a communal lounge and cafeteria.

The Mystical Yoga Farm is focused on self-sustainability, growing fresh organic food, growing healthy yogi’s, teachers and healing practitioners. The desire is to heal the earth and its inhabitants through connection with nature and Spirit.

We are an Eco-Rustico Retreat Center that is off the grid; utilizing filtered water, composting toilets, solar hot water, and solar electricity for use in the kitchen, office, shower areas and communal spaces. We invite you to connect to your natural rhythms during the retreat & live with nature.

We share meals in the Rancho and practice yoga with breath-taking views of the lake and the volcanoes. Meditation occurs on the dock as we watch the sunrise over the volcano. This place is a rare gem, a peaceful oasis like nothing experienced before; perfect for the inward journey you seek to embark on.

All of the food is vegetarian and prepared with loving hands. The humble vegetable garden nourishes as often as possible while the rest of our organic food comes from the local farmers of our neighboring villages. The Mystical Yoga Farm serves three delicious meals a day.

The farm shares its beauty in many ways during your free time: relaxing in hammocks, sailing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, gardening, coffee picking, paddle boarding, reading from the consciousness library, feeding the chickens or detoxing in the traditional wood-fired temascal.

All rooms have solar powered lights and candles for ambiance, but we recommend a headlamp for reading in the evenings.

We use bio-degradable products in the kitchen, for laundry and for personal hygiene and we encourage you to also help protect our beautiful property from harmful chemicals.

Bring a towel, layers of clothing to suit varying temperatures during the day and night. Natural insect repellent is nice to have. As we are a secluded location, you will want to bring anything you will need on hand.

The closest international airport is Guatemala City, about a 3.5 hour drive to Panajachel, which connects by boat to Santiago and the farm.

Private transfer:

You can book a direct shuttle in advance with Mystical Yoga Farm from the airport to Santiago, including a ten minute boat to the farm.  This costs $100, or $60 if it's able to be shared.

Public shuttles:

From the airport, you can go directly to Pana and take a boat to Santiago & the Farm, or you can get a public shuttle to spend the night in Antigua and travel to Pana the next day to do the same. If your flight arrives after 1pm, it's advised to stay a night in Antigua before coming to the lake.

Details on these options provided upon request.

Aimee Hansen, Creator of Storyteller Within Retreats

Aimee chases big questions with butterfly nets, only to set them free again. She's always had an irresistible attraction to words and metaphors as a way of playing, provoking, revealing, exploring, understanding, and connecting. Twelve years ago she began sneaking away from the office for creative writing classes at Central Saint Martins College, writing short stories and rekindling a childhood love for all things lyrical.

On a quest for more meaningful plot in life, she left her corporate job in London to travel for a couple years. In 2012, her travels guided her to Guatemala and back to herself. Her intensive studies with an intuitive mentor who called her "the storyteller" and her own passion for human insight started her on ever curious and unfolding journey into the nature of perception. Her work explores the power of the stories we tell within our lives and invites a creative and playful adventure in the yoga of perspective.

She works as a freelance writer, writes children stories, plays at poetry, and is writing a novel about the storyteller within. She holds a 200+ hr yoga teacher certification. She is inspired and humbled by witnessing how something raw and honest in the human spirit aches to open, when given the invitation. She began Storyteller Within retreats to share in the experience of exploring our humanity and stepping into our courage.
