El Tumbo de las OlasTHE OSA PENINSULA
The ‘Osa Peninsula’ is located at the most southern tip of Costa Rica, close to the Panama border, and at the entrance to the ‘Corcovado National Park’. It is listed in National Geographic’s top five naturist destinations.
EL TUMBO DE LAS OLAS
Jungle Lodge & Yoga Retreat
Location, location, location! 'Tumbo' is situated amongst primary rainforest and a stone's throw from the beautiful 'Pan Dulce' (sweet bread) and 'Backwash' beaches and offers a pleasant twist on jungle living.
The main 'rancho' has a cosy modern feel with living, cooking, dining, entertaining, lounging area downstairs and spacious manicured gardens with private patio and dipping pool attached.
Upstairs comfortably sleeps 8 people in 3 partitioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Meanwhile, there is a separate 'creek-side' bungalow that sleeps another 4 people and a deluxe jungle tent platform with 2 tents that can accommodate 2 couples, all with en-suite bathroom.
The yoga deck is located across the creek and nestled inside a little jungle clearing with monkeys and scarlet macaws above in the canopy and the sound of the ocean beyond the trees. It is fully equipped with mats, blocks and sound system and has its own bathroom.
The perfect surf and swimming beach is located right in front of the accommodation, where beginners can take lessons on more forgiving waves, and boards can also be rented. Experienced surfers can find more challenging breaks such as Pan Dulce, Backwash and Matapalo within walking distance. See more events in this venue

‘El Tumbo', is situated near 'Cabo Matapalo' in the Osa Peninsula. It is a really cool venue. It offers accommodation for eight guests in the main house (Casa Grande) which has partitioned rooms, each with en suite bathroom. As with all the properties on the Osa Peninsula, Tumbo is off the grid and runs on solar energy, and features open plan living. The rooms are situated on the first floor mezzanine and divided by solid walls on two sides and thick canvas curtains on the others. Although the rooms are only semi private, they are spacious and create a pleasant group vibe, allowing you to really experience the magic of the jungle in a safe and comfortable environment.
Sonya Genel ERYT500 and Arasa Maram are teachers and artists who create intentional transformative gatherings. Sonya is a yoga teacher who invites people to listen to their bodies, intuition, Earth and Spirit. Arasa is a singer, sound healer, multi-instrumentalist, and poet. Together they offer yoga, movement, and meditation classes that incorporate music and sound for personal and community activation. The current consciousness shift on earth is making tremendous healing and awakening possible. Now is the time to listen deeply to our inner knowing, courageously follow our hearts, and support each other in our collective evolution!
“Sonya always delivers mind blowing, heart opening and soulful retreats that allow you to connect with mother nature and to nurture your well being. Through earthy yoga teachings, deep meditation stillness, and mindful eating of healing foods, I experienced very deep transformation. Guided hikes with Sonya through nature melted away all of the layers of stress that weighed me down. Somewhere between where the mountains met the sea, while listening, engaging, and reflecting, I once again felt at ease. I connected with my inner freedom, contentment, and happiness that has always been there but needed to be awakened. I’ve been to three of Sonya’s retreats and I keep coming back for more because I always leave better than before! This time around I’m so excited to come again as Sonya will be accompanied by her wonderful life and love partner Arasa who radiates so much genuine soul. When he plays his musical instruments, and sings with his deep melancholic voice, I feel better able to hear my own inner voice and guidance.” – Femia Djohan, Designer at NicholsBooth Architects
