Join us on this unique adventure in the heart of the Costa Rican rain forest for a week of yoga, trail running, hiking and a range of other optional activities. We will start the day with a dynamic, rejuvenating yoga practise, which takes place on the yoga deck overlooking the jungle, followed by a healthy and delicious breakfast. We will then set off on marked routes through the jungle for trail runs, led by Helen, or hikes led by a local guide through the abundant nature of the rain forest, when you will have the opportunity to encounter rare wildlife, exotic flowers and waterfalls. We return for lunch, after which you can choose from the different activities provided by Luna Lodge… horse riding, kayaking, surfing or other rainforest guided tours. A range of spa treatments are available during the week, there is also a pool to swim in and relax by.

Helen endeavors to continually improve as a yoga teacher in a constant effort to learn more and deepen her knowledge and understanding, and has trained with many internationally recognised teachers, such as Bridget Woods Kramer, Sianna Sherman, Kathryn Budig and Kino McGregor. In addition, Helen is excited to have commenced her 500 hour Advanced Yoga Medicine Training with Tiffany Cruikshank, an internationally known Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher with a background in Sports Medicine.
Helen has experience teaching to adults of all levels and to children and teenagers. Being a qualified primary school teacher enables Helen to fully understand the behaviours and requirements of children and young adults and the innumerable benefits that yoga offers them, particularly in the educational setting. Helen has studied with Children’s Yoga expert and British Wheel of Yoga teacher trainer Michael Chissick, who has been teaching yoga in schools as part of the curriculum for 15 years. Helen has also trained with, and been accredited by, Teen Yoga UK.
Once a competitive swimmer to regional level, Helen has always been driven by sport, health and fitness. Now a keen trail runner and surfer, she is dedicated to spreading the health benefits of yoga and works closely with many athletes as part of their cross-training, injury prevention and therapy. Helen has gained the Leadership in Running Fitness certification and registered Sport Yoga instructor status, and takes groups on Trail Running and Yoga Retreats.
Helen teaches a Vinyasa Flow style of yoga to adults of all ages and abilities, influenced by her ashtanga practice and her training in Hatha yoga. This is a dynamic flowing form of yoga, where postures are linked together using the breath. Each class will work the whole body but sometimes there is a special theme or focus area, and every class always ends in a much needed Savasana (final relaxation).
