Dolominds would like to invite you to discover our Valley: Cadore, in the hearth of the Dolomites. Join us for this long weekend retreat. Each day will be a blend of hiking, knowledge of local culture, food tasting..and why not relax...!
The walks will be led by a local professional guide and organized in the surrounding area. We will be walking in total for around 4-5 hours a day on mainly easy paths, with the occasional steep climb thrown in to appreciate the spectacular views.
– Tour of the “baitas”: moderate hike, 4h-return (550 m). During this walk, we will visit traditional cabins where families from the surrounding valleys used to spend the summer grazing cows and making hay. You will enjoy the contrast of panoramic views and the charm of the wild forest of the Dolomites. Lunch and appetizers will be provided during the different stops at the baitas.
– Monte Piana (2314m). Part of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Natural Park, this highland plateau is an open-air museum; the site of a dispute between Italians and Austrians during the First World War. This walk will start from Misurina (40km from Pelos di Cadore) and we will walk for 5 hr (return) climbing a total of 600 meters. Once at the top, you will certainly be impressed by the 360-degree view and by the magic of this place.
-Pian dei Buoi (1828m): another highland plateau – considered a natural pearl of the landscape which forms part of the Marmarole mountain range. This hike will start 2km from the hotel and will include 5 hr hike (total). Once at the top you will be able to enjoy the outstanding view and food served at the refuge managed by a local family.
– Visit at the malga: easy and at times moderately steep Hike to reach the “malga”. This typical construction, was used in the past for the production of cheese. We will spend the day in this mountain pasture landmark cooking, eating and enjoying the landscape.
WHO WE ARE
Dolominds is a Cadorehub project, an association of the Cadore valley in the Dolomites (Italy) that has been created by local people with the objective of promoting the area and the local community by using the available human and environmental resources in the valley.
We would like to reveal the Cadore Valley as we know it, with its artisans, nature trails, our traditions; all elements that are not easily accessible to the mainstream tourism. Every village has its own hidden wonders that deserve to be discovered. We aim to connect different professional roles in the community, offering a service that respects everybody, from the tourist to the artisans to the alpine guides that will lead the hikes.
We invite you to explore the most authentic and wild side of the gorgeous Dolomites with a unique experience in deep contact with nature and local culture
