Samasati Retreat and Rainforest Sanctuary
American Way magazine called it a ” Jungle Gem”. This Hotel sits in the heart of a 250 acres Conservation Project & Biological Reserve. Overlooking the Caribbean and some of the best beaches of Central America, Samasati has been a pioneer of Sustainable Tourism as well as one of the first Yoga lovers destination in Costa Rica.
Samasati Retreat & Rainforest Sanctuary hosts world class guest artists year round to share their gifts, crafts, practice and wisdom. In addition, retreat groups flock to the mountain perch above the sea for the perfect combination of nature, class space, attentive staff and on and off site excursions. Stoke your inner fire each morning with a playful and strength-building yoga practice in the brilliant rainforest canopy overlooking the Caribbean. This vibrant morning asana practice will energize your body to prepare for a full day of rest, pampering, or adventure- your choice! Get a massage or cleansing body treatment at the on-site spa or choose from a list of optional day trips. Excursions include world-class snorkeling outings, hiking alongside magnificent flora and fauna, touring a local chocolate farm, and more. Participants will return before dinner for a relaxing and restorative yoga and meditation practice. After dinner, you may choose to spend your evening unwinding and breathing in the magic of Samasati’s land or venturing out into the lively town of Puerto Viejo.
The capstone event of the week will be a one-day service project to a learning center for local girls, The International Center for Peace. We will help this special community build a new playground for their center, paint a mural, and spend time reading and practicing yoga with the girls.
This unique yoga retreat and service trip will create inner abundance through yoga practices, wellness activities, and selfless service (seva) in action. You will leave feeling strong and rejuvenated, also knowing that have left a valuable footprint behind on your travels.
