DAY 01 Istanbul
Welcome to Turkey. Arrival into Istanbul. Transfer from the airport & check in to your hotel. Tonight you will enjoy a welcome dinner where you will be introduced to Turkish cuisine and enjoy the mystical atmosphere of Istanbul at night. Overnight in Istanbul. (Welcome diner included)
DAY 2 - Istanbul City Tour
Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel and we depart at 09:00 for the Istanbul City Tour. We will begin with ancient Hippodrome It was a circus that was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Today it is a square named Sultanahmet Square, with a few fragments of the original structure surviving. Its known with the three monuments: the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Serpentine Column and the Column of Constantine.
Then continue with monuments of the Byzantine city around the hippodrome, chief of which is Haghia Sophia, greatest of all Byzantine buildings and the inspiration for many Ottoman mosques. After we will walk to Hagia Eirene, which is the largest and oldest church from the Byzantine era still standing.
The nearby Basilica Cistern is a remarkable colonnaded cistern.
We will have lunch break at “Sultanahmet Koftecisi” which ,s the oldest restaurant at the district Afternoon we will explore the capital of two great Empires; Byzantium and Ottoman. First we visit Topkapi Palace where was used as the main residence of Ottoman Sultans. Topkapi Palace is one of the greatest Palace Museums in all around the world. While visiting Topkapi Palace we will find us in four courtyards; Parade Square; Divan Square; Enderun Court; The Imperial Sofa. In the palace we will also visit Kubbealtı / Divan-ı Hümayun, Exterior Treasury/Weapons Section, Justice Tower, Kitchens, Audience Chamber, Imperial Wardrobe, Palace Library, Chamber of Treasury, Chamber of Sacred Relics, Ağalar Mosque, Circumcision Room, Revan Pavilion, Baghdad Pavilion, Sofa Pavilion, Evening Meal of Ramadan Pavilion and also Pergola. In the palace entrance of Harem section is with optionally extra fee. After the Topkapi Palace. Later on we will get into The Blue Mosque, a great work of Ottoman Architects and famous with Otoman İznik Tiles. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul.
DAY 03 – Istanbul - Cappadocia
Breakfast at the hotel, then going to visit the Egyptian Bazaar to get some of the famous spices of the Orient. After that we’ll take you to the Dolmabahçe Palace - built in 19 th century is one of the most glamorous palaces in the world. The next hightlight of the day is the Bosphorus Cruise – seated comfortably on a private yacht you’ll hear about the history of Istanbul while admiring the diversity of the city landscape along the coast. We’ll get off the yacht to have lunch and directly after that we’ll set off to the Asian side of the city. We’ll stop by for a coffee break at the Çamlıca Hill – a site famous for its stunning panoramic view of Istanbul. Then drive to Cappadocia by bus. Overnight in bus.
DAY 04 – Cappadocia
In the morning, first meeting with the lunar landscape of Cappadocia: rock formations beyond belief in Devrent valley; walking in Zelve Open Air Museum: a journey in the past with its underground houses; visit to Pasabag, fairy chimneys; where the voice of wind mixes with the songs of fairies. Lunch in Avanos, center of terra cotta work of art since 3000 BC. and a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. Afternoon, visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum and see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia in rock-
cut churches with frescoes and paintings (10th to 13th century). Climb on top of the Uchisar Rock-Castle to have a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Overnight Cappadocia. (Optional; Dervish performance or Turkish night tour)
DAY 05 - Cappadocia - Pamukkale:
(Optional - Hot ait baloon tour very early in the morning) After taking breakfast at the hotel, tour to Kaymakli Underground City, one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia. Soganli Valley, an Open Air Museum in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocian village with its different style Rock-Cut churches and frescoes. Villages in the valleys, surrounded by the table top mountains, are spectacular. Lunch and visit to Sahinefendi newly discovered (01 May 2002) mosaic houses - Archaeological excavation site. Continue with Keslik Monastery near Cemil, that hides its frescoes behind a very thin smoke layer which we can only see by torch light. Our tour finishes with a visit to Mustafapasa (Sinasos), an old Greek town with its spectacular old Greek houses; very fine examples of late Greek settlements and architecture. After the tour take a night bus to Pamukkale.
DAY 06 - Pamukkale
Arrive in Pamukkale early morning. After having breakfast from hotel, you''ll be picked up for the tour of Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Rest of the day relax at the hotel Overnight in Pamukkale
DAY 07 – Pamukkale - Ephesus Tour
After early breakfast drive to Ephesus. The tour begins by visiting the remains of the Artemis Temple, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Afterwards, it proceeds to the spectacular main site of Ephesus, undoubtedly the most superbly preserved Greco-Roman city. Unmistakable highlights surviving among the ruins are the Celsius Library, Agora, Theater, Odeon, Trajan Fountain, Domitianus Temple and Roman Latrines. Following a lunch break, visit the House of Virgin Mary; reputed to be where she spent her final days. Overnight in Kusadası.
DAY 08 – Kusadası - Istanbul
Early morning drive to Istanbul and take a flight from Istanbul, back to home.
