Olives and Vines at Mas des Avelines

The beautiful Mas des Avelines is a luxury villa set in the Provencal vineyards.  It is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. It is also a haven for sun lovers, stargazers, and people who are just in need of some peace and quiet.

The Mas des Avelines is a newly renovated house set in the peaceful undulating hills north of Bandol, and is just a short distance from the coast. It is set in 4 acres of private grounds littered with olive and fruit trees. Guests will definitely enjoy taking a dip in Mas des Avelines’ 14 x 5m saltwater heated swimming pool or lounging around the pool house with its comfortable sofas and outdoor fireplace. An outdoor pool kitchen and dining area with charcoal barbecue and Sonos system is also available for parties and gatherings. Guests can also enjoy a game of table tennis, badminton and volleyball in the Mas des Avelines sports areas.

The house itself is light and airy with 5 en suite double bedrooms that can comfortably fit 10 people. The beds are lined with Egyptian cotton sheets for maximum comfort and the spacious open plan living area has doors opening straight onto the terrace, which has far reaching views across the beautiful Provencal vineyards and landscape. Guests don’t need to be worried about getting too detached with technology since the Mas des Avelines has wifi, flat screen 3d surround sound TV, English Freesat plus DVD and Sonos system.

With all these things in store for you in one wonderful location, it is no wonder that Mas des Avelines was given a much coveted 5 star rating from the French Tourist Board shortly after its opening in July 2014.

THE SURROUNDING AREA

The Mas des Avelines is just a short distance from the coast, within the hills north of Bandol. On the outskirts, you have a choice of going to one of the towns, such as La Cadière d'Azur and Le Castellet, that are filled with both stylish boutiques and remains of the old ramparts.

The nearest village, Le Castellet, is extremely pretty and has wonderful views from the church square. The little winding streets of the village is great to wander through and it has plenty of stylish boutiques, cafes and restaurants just waiting to be discovered. Just 4 kilometers away is the another village, La Cadière d'Azur, which is equally lovely with its old narrow streets and the remains of the old ramparts.

The coast is a 10 minute drive away and includes the beaches at Bandol, St Cyr sur Mer and Sanary sur Mer. Bandol is a great location to visit with its busy harbour lined with acres of yachts and great cafes just waiting to be explored. Towards the west is La Ciotat, which also has beautiful beaches and one of our recommended places - the port of Cassis. Visitors may also enjoy walking trails across the Calanques, which is a national park filled with dramatic limestone sea cliffs, gorges and turquoise creeks.

What is Vinyasa Yoga : Sri Krishnamacharya defined vinyasa as a cycle or a circle with a beginning, middle and end. The intelligent unfolding of a sequence of practise, of life or of nature. The cycle of vinyasa is also often described as a wave – an arc in space and time. Life is a Maha Vinyasa from its beginning to its end. How we connect to this Maya vinyasa and the current of life is our choice – Vinyasa Yoga is a way of allowing us to feel this flow and the constant vibration of the universe both around us and within us and to move with and not against the eternal circle of life. Based on Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga is the search for balance between the solar- heating and dynamic elements - and the lunar - calming, grounding elements. Just as with Hatha (Sun/Moon) Vinyasa Yoga seaks the balance and harmony in our practise and that of the environment or the day’s activities. Through the sequences of flowing postures we seek the harmony of breath and movement, between alignment of the physical body, awareness of the mind and of the present moment we inhabit.

Anna Pearce

Anna – La Chef

I am a food-loving country girl at heart, who has called France her home for the last 14 years.

I am Anna to my friends and Mummy to my three beautiful and beloved girls and I believe that what you eat matters! I believe in quality not quantity. I like simple, sustainable and seasonal. And I like to feel satisfied.

I trained as a Home Economist and specialized in food and nutrition. I have worked in food research and development, food marketing and as a teacher of independent living, assisting people to take control of their health and develop healthy eating behaviors.

I have cooked in many different eating establishments, ranging from a milk bar in Australia to a Michelin-starred restaurant in London. I now work as a private chef. I have had a life full of travel and adventure and have eaten my way through many countries. I am a devoted cook and eater.

I live in a beautiful, traditional alpine village in a barn we renovated into a home with a fabulous flower and vegetable garden. We are surrounded by forests and mountain pastures. And from living here I have developed a direct and immediate appreciation of the seasons. We grow what food we can. We forage. We scrump and we swap with our neighbours. We are fortunate to be surrounded by farmers who supply us with fresh produce; milk still warm from the cow, fresh eggs from our neighbours and happy meat from animals who graze alongside our house.

People often ask me what is my kind of food. Such a difficult question to answer but here goes:

I like food that sings in my mouth as well as on the plate. I like food to be delicious, not fussed with. I like texture, flavour and balance. I like food to be healthy, recognizing there is always a place for a really good treat. I like local food (wherever I might be in the world). I like interesting and different grains, unusual herbs, seeds, spices and ingredients from afar.

And what is good food without good wine and of course good friends? To me cooking is an act of love and giving and the desire to share with others. See more photos and other events by this presenter
