Asana, Meditation & Pranayama
Asana, meditation and pranayama is instructed daily throughout the training and introduces you to a variety of different techniques and teachings. Asana is mainly instructed by Akhilesh Bodi abiding by the traditional style of hatha yoga. On top of this solid foundation of asana we instruct you in other styles so that you are able to have an understanding of different kinds of asana practices like Iyengar, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, etc. This method allows you to tailor your class to suit the students that come to you by pulling in elements of these different teachings to suit their needs.
Rather than solely alignment, our focus is on the mind and regulation of breath. It is so important that we recognize our own body’s needs and realize that every one of us is different. Therefore, everyone is going to feel different in each pose. Asanas is a vehicle that will help focus your mind in a more profound way and develop your practice throughout the eight limbs of yoga.
We will study the eight limbs of yoga as offered by Maharishi Patanjali through our philosophical classes and different kinds of meditative sessions.
Eight Limbs of Yoga:
Yama- Moral codes
Niyama- Self- Purification and study
Pranayama- Breath Control
Pratyahara- Withdrawing of the mind from the senses
Dhyana- Deep Meditation
Samadhi- Union with the object of Meditation
We will be exploring the world of Bhakti Yoga essentially through chanting. We will have many different kinds of classes such as music sessions, chanting, Bhajans, Kirtans, Somatic meditations, Improvisational dancing and more. These parts of the trainings will help you let go of your expectations and control and connecting deeply to your inside happiness.
We consider the practices of Ayurveda to be essentially paired with yoga, so we will incorporate this in a way that will allow you to infuse this not only into your teachings, but also into your life.
Our aim is to bring the many different aspects of yoga to you and infuse them together to ensure that you become the best yoga teacher within. Before we are able to share our yoga outwardly with others, we need to bring the truth and essence of yoga inward.
This training is designed for those people who want to deepen their present yoga practices, aspiring teachers, beginner or advanced students of all ages. It is not necessary that you wish to become a yoga teacher at the end of this training. Many students join only to have a deeper knowledge of yoga.

After completing his graduation from Lucknow University, Akhilesh entered into politics so that he could reach out to the needy, but after some time he withdrew from his political career due to a number of visions he had experienced. These visions helped him to establish his life as a mendicant, and to join the movement of Swami Chinmayananda. Akhilesh studied and lived with Swami Chinmayananda for two years, but still his urge to find practical solutions for the suffering, stress and tensions of today’s society stayed with him. He began a search that sent him all over India, as he traveled the entire length and breadth of the country meeting different teachers, and imbibing the best in them.
At a critical point in his search, he approached the authority on the Upanishad and Vedanta, Swami Dayananda. During his time with Swami Dayananda, Akhilesh was able to study and eventually grasp the essence of all of the major Upanishads which are more than 10,000 years old.
With this knowledge, Akhilesh developed a comprehensive method of Yoga that blends Hatha Yoga based on the teachings of Iyengar, Raja Yoga, & Laya Yoga. Since developing this method, he has re-entered into politics, and has given workshops around the world in countries such as Switzerland, France, Spain, Russia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
His teaching combines his wide experience with his light and humorous way and his loving approach to the students. See more photos and other events by this presenter
