Bali Floating Leaf is a peaceful retreat in a lush oasis in which to nourish, recharge and heal your mind, body and spirit, holistically. Combining ancient Balinese wisdom with modern convenience and luxury, our Bali retreat provides a safe place for relaxation, personal enrichment and wellness. Stay in our luxurious villas and take part in retreats such as yoga, wellness, Bali arts and culture, photography, surfing and many more. Enjoy our Balinese spa and open-air yoga center with views of the Indian Ocean and Mount Agung Volcano. Guests can also look forward to an ultimate relaxation pool complete with waterfalls, hidden meditation areas and more. The grounds also feature an organic permaculture garden as well as a large and friendly kitchen where our private chef will prepare delectable healthy meals, juices and snacks with locally grown organic nutrient-rich food. And to top it off, world-class surf is steps away!

The Yoga Sanctuary, our 2000 square foot (186 sq meters) space can accommodate large yoga classes, lectures, performances and even weddings. It has been heralded as “Asia’s best place to practice Yoga” and offers sweeping views of Holy Mt. Agung as well as the Indian Ocean and Bali’s outer laying islands.

The Sanctuary is also used for lectures, weddings, music performances, dance classes, puppet shows and more.

After studying the weather patterns for 5 years, we were able to carefully design and construct the Sanctuary, as well as the other buildings at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat, to take full advantage of the wonderful breezes our micro-climate offers. These near continuous breezes that flow through the property, protect us from the humidity and mosquito problems experienced in many other areas of Bali.

The Yoga Sanctuary makes use of passive cooling, green walls and roofs, sustainable materials and other eco-friendly methods to enrich a deeply natural yoga experience.

Enjoy the feel of your bare feet on our strand-woven bamboo floors. Strand woven bamboo takes the worlds most sustainable material, bamboo and converts it into a dense, ultra strong material that acts like a hardwood and is designed to last 30-40 years.

The spa’s owner Maryam Putu Doliveck, is a member of one of Bali’s Royal Families and the sole recipient of health and wellness recipes past down through generations. Putu has owned and operated one of the most successful spas in California’s central coast for almost a decade. A certified practitioner of the State of California, she brings the standards and modern technology of Western spa practices and skillfully combines them with her traditional Balinese heritage to create a one of a kind experience.

At Floating Leaf, we have six superior Pool View Rooms rooms and four Garden Rooms, all created with your comfort and minimal environmental impact in mind. Each room is well appointed with modern luxury and convenience, yet maintains a peaceful Balinese feel. Enjoy spectacular views on the Indian Ocean and holy Mount Agung volcano and the surrounding rice fields.

Great care has been taken to ensure all materials conform to high environmental standards.

The spacious, well-appointed bedrooms at Floating Leaf provide luxurious comfort and a perfect home base in which to enjoy all the wonders of Bali

This resort caters for many holiday goers from families to surfers all trying to have a relaxing holiday, far different from the fast paced and busy atmosphere of a resort in Kuta. Keramas is a great location that exhibits a calm and relaxing atmosphere, surrounded by green rice paddies and barely any traffic. The staff at the resort are really friendly and treat you as family and take care of any problems or questions you may have. The food and drinks here are great as well as the massages. I stayed here using the surf package and the surf guides that take you out show you the best breaks in the area with no crowds and lots of barrels. I would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this retreat centre for our honeymoon. We also quickly realized that this would be the perfect place to hold a future Yoga/Wellness retreat. The personal care and attention, the quality of excursions, the beautiful rooms, the suggestions and guidance made this an unforgettable stay for us! Mikaku and Putu, offer quality service as well as working to take care of their community by hand picking and personally providing thorough training for all their staff who often times are coming from less fortunate parts of the island. They know Bali very well and we felt like we were in great hands. We\’ll be returning to this sanctuary in the near future!

This place is beautiful. The staff are lovely! We had an amazing couple of days here, it seemed to be the first time we actually stopped on this trip & did nothing! We got to feed some very happy fish, twice each day. The food was gorgeous (I\’m still dreaming about one of the breakfasts I had).
The activities they have available are amazing, almost anything, though we did nothing but relax. The yoga room looks out to the rice fields & has some fun props for inversions :) The rooms are stunning, beds comfy, bathrooms lovely. Ahhh, the pool! Salt water, divine!
I love the eco aspect of Floating Leaf, these guys care about the earth & support the local community! I have huge respect for that. Everything seems to be so thoroughly thought out!
The one thing I found a shame was the sound of traffic, though they do the best during the day to make the place superb with ambience (great music, water features), I could hear the traffic during the night (I sleep lightly). Having said that I would still go back, they totally deserve 5 stars!!

Room Tip: Maybe the downstairs rooms are quieter…? Good views of rice fields from upstairs

Travelling is one of my passions. I have been home for 6 weeks now and I still find myself relaying my experiences at Floating Leaf with such fond memories. So, I had to write this review.

Beautiful bamboo floors, fresh air breezes and picturesque rice fields surrounding the resort made Floating Leaf the ideal place to practice yoga, meditate or just contemplate life.

The pictures on this site truly show the relaxing and eco-friendly resort that Mikaku & Putu dreamed, designed, built and furnished for their guests to enjoy. The road off in the distance made it easy to come and go. But, what the pictures don\’t show is what really makes the Floating Leaf the place to go in Bali.

The 13 staff members were awesome! Addressing guests by name; trekking up to the top floor to bring coffee/tea while we watched the sun rise; creating delicious and healthy meals; tidying up behind us; providing great massages; and acting as tour guides on our outings. A truly customer focused team helping in whatever way they could to make our stay pleasant.

Tammy (our retreat leader) worked with Mikaku & Putu to organize events prior to our arrival, some that big hotels or tour companies could never offer visitors to Bali. Customs were explained ahead of each event so we knew what to expect, we made bamboo/flower offerings (with the guidance of Putu and the staff) to place at the sacred locations, a visit to a home in the local community, a priest performed a moon ceremony at Floating Leaf for us, and a healer met with each of us throughout the week. These events have given us lifelong memories and experiences – good for hours of reminiscing and reflection.

Although I believe that everyone is entitled to their own option – I can’t help making one suggestion to those of you who rated the Floating Leaf Resort and the staff that
work there poorly – stick to the big hotels with hundreds of staff and you are just another room number and leave Floating Leaf to those of us who appreciate a more cherished experience.

    Hope to visit again.

Spending time at Floating Leaf with Mika and Putu (Michael and Maryam) was truly a life altering experience. I had traveled to Bali with them in 2012 and was looking forward to returning with some of my friends (and their friends.) The group was blown away by all that we were exposed to at Floating Leaf and in Bali.
The eco-retreat was beautiful, so much more than promised. Our rooms were comfortable and unique and provided us with everything we needed to feel at home. The common areas were great as well, with the floating lounge being the perfect place to sit with iPads/laptops and do emails, or to relax with a drink and talk with friends. The pool was always inviting us in for a cooling dip, to do some laps, or just to sit and visit.
And the yoga floor was spacious, beautiful and useful. We practiced yoga some days; did some ecstatic dance in the evening; and meditated there every morning. Some used it during the day just to have a quiet moment. There were also spaces throughout the resort to have intimate conversations with others or to find some solitude away from the group.
The food was beyond delicious and healthy to boot. The portions were just right and the presentation enticing. The staff took extra care to meet the special needs of the guests. We had a marvelous selection and were never served the same thing twice (unless by special request!) And the selection of drinks, non-alcoholic and otherwise were refreshing and yummy as well.
We had an interesting and diverse itinerary, full of cultural destinations, sacred ceremonies and healing experiences. We were enjoyed the incredible combination of Putu\’s being born and raised in Bali, and her understanding the Balinese language and culture, as well as Mika\’s knowledge of the stories, myths and art of Bali. As an artist/photographer himself, Mika has spent more than 20 years exploring Bali, learning to speak the language and understand the inner workings of this place people refer to as paradise.
As the group leader, I\’m happy to say we all had a fabulous time and I will return to Floating Leaf and bring more people along to be treated like royalty by the fantastic staff and hosts.

Bali has been my dream. Not the Bali of resort hotels and dress up dinners, but the real Bali. My opportunity knocked this June. Not only did I have an opportunity to experience some of the real Bali, but I also met some of the kindest, friendliest, most helpful people in the owners and staff of the Floating Leaf Eco Retreat. The rooms were luxurious, the beds so comfortable, the building itself so unique and awe-inspiring,and the meals and service easily on par with any big city 5 star hotel. Yet i was made to feel at home with personal attention and anticipation of my wishes. Excursions facilitated by the management proceeded seamlessly and were very meaningful. Truly a soulful, beautiful experience.

Room Tip: Main floor rooms have best access, but all are spacious with good A/C

First of all, WOW! I had no idea what I was getting into before I arrived at Floating Leaf. It all started with the warm smiles from the entire staff as they received us from the airport. It got way better from there! The amazing and super healthy food, the beautiful location right amongst the beautiful rice paddies, the excursions around the country, the feeling of being part of an intimate and loving family, the Koi pond, the fun cubby holes to nap in, the view from the roof, getting to know the fun and friendly staff, the awesome swimming pool (drinking a cold beer in said swimming pool) and the comfy beds! This place is AMAZING!

On a recent 2 week Yoga Retreat to Bali with my daughter, the second half of our trip was spent at the Floating Leaf and it was one of the most beautiful experiences ever for both of us. I will never ever forget that first day when we drove up to the main entrance to the image of all the staff standing to greet us with beautiful smiles on their faces, beautiful bright green and beige shirts on all of them that just made it look even more stunning against the entrance and sunshine. Each staff member greeted us with ice cold wash clothes and then we were all treated to a beautiful foot bath and foot massage…we were in heaven. The room was beautiful with amazing statues all over the property and the upper Yoga area was unbelievable looking out over beautiful scenery. My daughter and I spent our free time floating in the beautiful pool enjoying one of their amazing cocktails and equally amazing food. Thank you to the owners Mikaku and Putu for making our stay so very special and for new friendships, we will definitely be back…a beautiful mother and daughter experience in paradise!
