Casina Settarte is a calm and peaceful residency for artistic research, rehearsal, and workshops. We are perched on a hill and have a wide view of this beautiful area, which is called “Valle d’Itria” – a land characterized by the trulli (ancient stone houses with a conical roof). In our free time, we can relax, walk, draw, and play music surrounded by the red earth, blue sky, old stone walls, birds, olive & fruit trees, thyme, capers and other spontaneous herbs.
From mid-April to the end of October the climate is warm and perfect for dancing, breathing, and enjoying the nature!
We have a 200m2 dance studio open to the landscape, and a small inside studio with wooden floor and radiant heating.
We have inside shared accommodations for 18-20 people. These include the trullo and the lamia (stone houses with conical roof typical from the area), a stone cave, and the studio-dormitory.
In our 2 hectars of beautiful, panoramic land, it is also possible to camp under the olive trees – bring your sleeping bag or sheets! It gets cool in evening time, so remember to bring a sweater.
If you prefer private accommodations, you may stay at the lovely nearby Bed and Breakfast Riposo del Vento.
Normally we shop for local, fresh products. Together we cook the typical regional cuisine. There is an outside, shaded terrace for eating together.
Additional options: cranio-sacral sessions, bodywork, Tai chi, walking and exploring the historic sites.
Beaches are 20 minutes by car. You may visit the riserva di torre guaceto, a wonderful marine reserve within a 25-minute drive.
There are plenty of local music, food, art and religious festival and activities to participate in throughout the year.
