Jikoji, Compassion Light Temple, is a teaching and retreat center available for retreats, seminars, and classes for individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds. Jikoji’s sangha generally practice Zen, particularly Zazen meditation, as taught by our founder Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi and his successors, and as guided by our Resident Teacher Shoho Michael Newhall. Kindness, mutual respect and compassion are guiding principles.
Jikoji is located at 12100 Skyline Blvd, Los Gatos CA 95033. You can reach us by phone at (408) 741-9562 during our regular business hours, 9 AM to 2 PM, M-F. You can also contact us by email, firstname.lastname@example.org
At 2350 ft. elevation in the Santa Cruz mountains, Jikoji’s four large buildings, the Zendo, Dormitory, Community, and Residents buildings, are clustered on 13 scenic acres. The property includes a large pond, limited camping spaces and miles of hiking trails within the surrounding 1800 acres of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District.
All or part of the facilities are available at modest rental rates for group as well as personal retreats. Retreatants are welcome to participate in Jikoji’s meditations and other activities.
