The Oakland Diocese Youth Retreat Center offers an ideal setting for your upcoming planning session, retreat or gathering. Set in the hills behind Queen of Heaven Cemetery, the Youth Retreat Center’s Spanish-style ranch house sits on 20 spacious acres looking out at Mt. Diablo. Located in Lafayette, it is only about 17 miles from downtown Oakland, but feels like a world away.
Sheltered by towering oaks, the main adobe building offers a teak-beamed living room, meeting and break-out rooms in addition to a commercial kitchen and dining area. Nearby, five 12- to 15-person cabins—one accessible to the disabled—line the road to our beautiful swimming pool. Hiking trails, a basketball court and an open-air stage surround five camp sites, rounding out the amenities. Our Center provides for lively outdoor activities for Confirmation groups, teen ministry programs and scout troops.
As a complement to the teaching and service mission of the Diocese, the Youth Retreat Center was established to serve our youth by offering a variety of group retreat options, such as Confirmation groups and teen ministry programs. Camping is enjoyed by CYO and Scouts groups, in addition to music camps like the one held by the Golden Gate Boys Choir and Bellringers. While youth groups in the diocese receive priority booking, the Center is not restricted to youth, or even Catholic groups.
