Venue Description

We are 40 Benedictine monks living in Subiaco, Arkansas, USA. We follow the 1,500 year old Rule as written by our holy father St. Benedict. This Rule and monastic way of life flow from the ancient biblical model of Christian discipleship as found in Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 4:32-35. Our balanced life of prayer and work (known as “Ora et Labora”) has existed in Arkansas since our founding in 1878. Feel free to join us for our communal prayers that are spoken and chanted five times each day in our Abbey Church.

In the Benedictine tradition of hospitality, Coury House Retreat Center receives all guests as Christ, providing a place for all who come in peace seeking God.

Coury House is the retreat and guest facility of Subiaco Abbey. Dedicated to the Holy Family, Coury House assists in the Abbey’s ministry of hospitality. The Abbey grounds, and the fields, forests and rolling hills of the beautiful Arkansas River Valley offer a quiet, serene, and spiritual atmosphere for prayer, meditation, reflection, and solitude. Coury House provides excellent accommodations and welcomes people from all walks of life and all faiths in the Benedictine tradition of hospitality. Our facilities include a chapel, meeting rooms, thirty-six completely furnished guest rooms (most with two twin-beds in each room), a couch, comfortable chairs, private bathroom facilities, and an elevator.
