Re-TREAT to Renew: Julie Mitchell and Jennifer Loftus Bio
Julie Mitchell has been studying Yoga since 1993. For the past 12 years, she has been guiding Yoga classes, workshops and retreats all around the world. Borrowing from her original “practice” belly-dancing, Julie teaches vinyasa as a flowing dance–fun, creative, and intuitive-guiding students on their journey inward through a fluid blend of pranayama, asana, dhyaha, creative visualization and aromatherapy. A licensed massage therapist schooled in anatomy, Julie is able to adjust students safely into poses both gentle and deep. In 2007, her yogic journey brought her to AcroYoga, which blends the spiritual wisdom of Yoga , the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of Thai massage. Through this dynamic and interactive practice, Julie strives to foster the qualities of communication, trust, playfulness and strength.
Jennifer Loftus has been moving with Nia since the early 90’s, dancing with the inspiring Winalee Zeeb, First Generation Nia trainer. A Certified Nia Brown Belt instructor, she is grateful to share the joy of this practice in Maui at Island Spirit Yoga Studio. She has her First & Second Degree Reiki certifications and incorporates this in all her work. She brings a compassionate heart to her classes, holding space for authenticity, truth, inner wisdom, playfulness, creativity, fun..and healing.
Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Classes blend music, vocal sounding and self -expression into dynamic movement routine, ending in meditation. With a philosophy based on “The Joy of Movement,” every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities, connecting body, mind, emotions and spirit.
